Thirty-five years ago, five Princeton residents with a deep appreciation for Princeton’s natural beauty created the Princeton Land Trust (PLT). PLT’s founders sought to preserve open space for the benefit of residents and visitors for passive recreation, wildlife protection, and to maintain Princeton’s rural character. PLT’s preservation efforts started with a small parcel of less than 1 acre, and have since grown steadily to protect more than 1500 acres. All of this has been made possible by the generosity of donors who share the vision of the original trustees, through partnerships with various public and private non-profits with similar missions, and by the work of dedicated individuals who manage the all-volunteer PLT.
Since PLT’s founding, Central Massachusetts has become increasingly more developed. Through efforts of PLT, organizational partners, Town leaders and volunteers, Princeton has thus-far managed to maintain the natural beauty that draws residents and visitors alike and protects our environment. To continue conservation efforts, PLT requires resources, including volunteers, partners, and funds.
In 2024, PLT established a Permanent Endowment Fund to provide income to support PLT’s increasing operating expenses—from land management and land surveying to marketing and record keeping, to accounting, taxes, and legal. These expenses are in addition to land acquisition costs.
PLT is thrilled to share that an Anonymous Donor has offered to match new contributions to PLT’s Endowment Fund up to $100,000! Through prudent investment, such an endowment fund should generate sufficient income to support the operations of the PLT.
To kick off this matching gift fundraising campaign, PLT’s current trustees have each committed funds to the Endowment Fund. While this gets us part way to our goal, we need your help to reach the total $200,000 in funds raised. Please consider donating top this fund by mail or via our website: https://www.princetonlandtrust.us/contact-us. Together, we can amplify this gift, PLT’s Permanent Endowment Fund, and the preservation of Princeton.
