Gregory

In June of 1996, Gregory Kendall and Mary Gregory donated 8.3 acres on Prospect Street off the center of town. The land encompasses sloping woods with a wetland fringe that provides valuable habitat for a variety of wildlife and plants. A spring at the northeast corner of the property flows year-round with pure water that once supplied the center of town, adding historic interest to the gift from a family whose history is closely entwined with the town.

The property can be explored from the Prospect Street, which is a right turn off of Mountain Road just past the Congregational church. The trail enters the near the southwest corner of the property (right, if standing on Prospect Street) and cuts diagonally northeast down the hill to the spring. A spur trail heads down to route 31 through the Alexander property, and there is parking off route 31.

Gregory Spring is still flowing...
